Apple Financial Report for Q1 2012

Holiday and traditionally most successful fiscal quarter for Apple, once again a record. At yesterday’s summing up of the Cupertino company reported incredible earnings of 46.33 billion and net quarterly profit of 13.06 billion (in diluted earnings per share of $ 6.43 profit). Interestingly, more than half of the quarter’s revenue secured international sales of apple products.

The press release quotes Tim Cook: “We are delighted with the outstanding performance and record sales of iPhone , iPad, and Mac. Apple is incredibly strong and this year we have planned out exciting new products. ” Let’s take a closer look, what is so very proud of CEO.

IPhone is Apple’s main source of income: during the holidays has sold 37.04 million smartphones, which showed 128% increase over Q1 2010 and almost 2 times higher than the result of the most successful (third) quarter of 2011. In monetary terms these figures correspond to a staggering 24.4 billion dollars – nearly 53% of total revenue!

Frankly, after these comments digits “one more edition of the product type [iPhone] 4S and the record will be the last ever ’cause at least a smile, as in this quarter, Apple has become the largest supplier of smart phones in the world, ahead of Samsung. The Koreans have reported on the shipment of 35 million phones to its partners (experts estimate that sales at 32-33 million).

The second most important was the iPad, which for several consecutive quarters is the second largest source of revenue for Apple (9,15 billion). The company reported on its Cupertino selling 15.43 million tablets, which is 39% higher compared with the results of the last reporting period and 111% higher than in the first quarter of 2011.

It seems that the iPad and iPhone customers is perceived as a good Christmas gift. It’s interesting how in the future the demand will affect educational event Apple?

For the first fiscal quarter of 2012, Apple sold 5.2 million computers Mac, which is 26% higher than the results of the same period last year. So that the figure seemed more solid, you can refer to older data. For example, for 2005 the company sold only 4.5 million computers.

In 2010 two of the three Macs sold were laptops. For the first quarter of this fiscal year, the gap has increased and now stands at 72/28. However, in comparison with the previous reporting period, desktops still “won” a couple of percent.

The number of desktop computers sold has increased to 1.48 million, and portable – up to 3.72 million units. Unfortunately, the more accurately we can not say, since Apple does not indicate the percentage breakdown for each model of Mac.

Just look at the graph iPod, to realize that the most popular digital media player in the world “fired” once a year and is on holidays. However, in the first quarter of its 2012 fiscal year, the company sold 15.4 million players iPod, which is 21% lower compared to the same period last year (almost 19.5 million).

This is not surprising, since the market for portable media players have long since saturated, and iPod sales are caused shares of iPod touch, which now accounts for more than half of all players sold by Apple, iPod nano, earned the love of users due to its size and multi-touch display.

And Tim Cook and Peter Oppenheimer fielded questions on a conference call.
